Transcript Speaker Diarization enhances your podcast's accessibility by clearly identifying speakers, making it easier for listeners to follow conversations. With Podbean AI, you can effortlessly label speakers in your transcripts, enhancing the overall listening experience. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process!
How to enable the “Transcript Speaker Diarization” feature
- Sign in to your account and head to the dashboard.
- Click “New Episode” to enter the episode publish page.
- Turn on Podbean AI. Click the gear button on the top right hand corner of the Podbean AI box to access the “AI Settings” page.
- Turn on the “Transcripts Speaker Diarization” option and click on “Update Options” to save your change.
When the Transcript Speaker Diarization option is enabled, Podbean AI will automatically label speakers with identifiers (e.g., Speaker0, Speaker1) if multiple voices are detected during episode processing.
How to edit the speakers
Once Podbean AI finishes processing your episode, head to "Episodes" > "Episode List," and click the episode title.
On the "Publish Episode" page, select "Episode Transcripts." Below the transcript, you’ll find the "Speakers" section with the names of the speakers listed.
- To change a speaker name, modify it in the Speakers list and click "Save." All corresponding names in the transcript will update accordingly.
- To add a new name, enter <v NewSpeakerName> in the transcript edit box and click outside; it will automatically appear in the Speakers list below.
Important Note: Please ensure the speaker format in the transcript edit box follows this structure: <v SpeakerName>caption text For more detailed guidelines on the speaker format in the transcripts, please refer here.
- To remove a name, delete it from the transcript edit box. Or delete the name from the Speakers list and click "Save," which will remove all corresponding names in the transcript.
How the speakers display
Transcripts with speakers will be displayed on the player as follows:
Example: "Speaker1: This is the first subtitle."
Note: The speakers listed in the transcript will be visible on the Podbean web player and the Podbean embeddable player.

Note: For users on the Enterprise plan utilizing Content AI for private podcasts, the Transcripts Speaker Diarization option is not supported.
