If you recently updated the credit card on file for your Podbean account, you may have noticed an immediate, smaller charge. Please rest assured that this is not an extra fee or a double-billing.

When you update your payment information, our system automatically triggers an immediate plan renewal to validate your new card and ensure your podcasting services remain uninterrupted. Here is a breakdown of how this prorated billing works.

How It Works: Immediate Renewal & Proration

To make sure you never lose money on time you’ve already paid for, Podbean uses a prorated billing system.

When you save your new card details:

  1. Your plan restarts today: A fresh billing cycle begins immediately on your new card.

  2. Your unused days are credited: The system calculates the dollar value of the remaining, "unused" days from your previous billing cycle.

  3. You pay only the difference: The value of those unused days is applied as a credit, reducing the cost of your new billing cycle.

The Calculation

Your new card is only charged a prorated amount based on this simple formula:

$Full Billing Cycle Amount - $Credit for Unused Days = $Prorated Amount Charged

What Changes on Your Account?

  • New Billing End Date: Because your plan restarted today, your official billing cycle has been extended. Your new expiration/renewal date will now be set to the new end date.

  • Future Billing: You will not be charged again until your new expiration date. Moving forward, your regular subscription amount will bill automatically to your new card on this new date.
